Tax credits claim being held but no reason

I have recently become single and have applied for both child tax credit and working tax credit.
I contacted them today to see what was happening with the claim.
They have told me the compliance department are 'looking into it' and this could take a month.
Does any one have any idea why they would be looking into it?
My claim is honest and filled in correctly. I am now very worried as with two young children and every other payout I have I am not in a position to wait another month.
Any ideas why this could be being held?
Thanks in advance

If a claim is a high value claim in that there is disability and/or childcare then compliance will always check into it before letting it go into payment.
If there is a missmatch in anything such as names or dates of birth that can prompt a compliance check too. Also if you applied and didn't put your child benefit number on the form that holds things up too. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
