Is there anything I can do to the copper gas pipe that runs along the front of my house to protect it from being stolen?

I suspect being full of a pressurized flammable gas will provide adequate deterrent to all but the most stupid of thief. If not you'll probably be able to readily identify the offender by the large bang and him/her being the one on fire.
A slightly more serious answer would be to get some trunking from B&Q or similar shed and fit that around it. But I wouldn't bother.0 -
I can just see it now.
Thief sues home owner after blowing self up nicking gas pipes.
"They didn't have signs warning that there was gas in pipes"
Judge awards thief £2 in damages and jails home owner! :rotfl:
I would agree though the gas should be deterent enough. You could always paint them as well which would hide the copper?0 -
Re run it inside or if it has to be outside, run it in 1/2" steel tubing...Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Wire it up to the mains :-)0

Ask your gas supplier what they'll do to protect it.
Doesn't it become your responsibility where it enters your house?0 -
if the trunking or some other boxing over the pipe is a no go, then put a lot of extra pipe fixings screwed to the wall. thieves will think it is any pipe unless it is labeled they dont care if gas escapes.0

It's the home-owners responsibility from the meter to the property.
Nothing will deter copper thieves these days, they don't care what is in the pipe.
Covering it with Denso tape will help put them off, as it is near on impossible to remove from the pipes and your hands when you touch it!0 -
if youre paranoid then replace it with steel pipe.Get some gorm.0
