Sundown adventure land

Hi, has anyone been and is it any good. Thinking of going October half term with the kids. Any advice or links to discounts/vouchers for entry are much appreciated. Many thanks.

We went with our 4 and 5 year olds a few weeks ago, and last year too. They don't do vouchers or discounts - never have for some reason, but it's only £10 each to get in and the car park is free unlike other theme parks. We had a great time, but I'd say it's really only suitable for under 8's. Little ones love it - there are quite a few rides and plenty of adventure playground-type areas, and there's also a big indoor play area in case it gets a bit chilly.
  • i took my 1 year old and 4 year old and they thought it was fantastic! so nice to be able to go on every ride even the 1 year old when i went there were hardly any q's but it wasnt half term. really recommend it but as someone else says def for the under 8s

Sundown is an amazing place for babies/toddlers but under 8's? Surely most 7/8 years olds would crave more exiting rides (my daughter had grown ot of sundown by 3 years old).

I think I've mentioned it before but the location of this Children’s theme park still amazes me (less than a mile from Ramton secure mental Hospital (prison) and overshadowed by a massive power station).

At age 5 my DD absolutely loved Sundown park - but after that age there wasn't enough there to occupy her for a day. Kind of the same with Gullivers Kingdom, although there is a good maze there, and a fairly big pirate ship ride for a young children's park (oh, and the Switchback coaster) - so we could make a day of it at Gullivers until she was about 7.

Thanks for all your replies, my dilema now is i have a three year old who will love it and a ten year old who may not. We are traveling back from Cambridgeshire to North yorkshire so are looking for something to do on the way back. We were going to stop at the travelodge (Retford) on the a1. Any other stop offs on the way back anyone can recommend???

it depends what your kids are used to. Ours still loved it at 10 because they have a fantastic playground and they loved the rides and i would just describe the whole thing as magical. But they hadn't been to blackpool/disneyland/alton towers so probably had nothing else to compare it to. We as parents absolutely adored it. once you pay your entrance fee you struggle to spend any more money unless you really want to. not like eurodisney where there's stalls etc round every corner. santa's sleigh ride is fantastic. We always said sundowners seemed as if no expense had been spared and was built for children to have a fantastic time rather than to make money for the owners. Wish we could still go now but we'll have to wait for grandchildren to arrive (if we're still alive then!)
  • also if your kids are quite small beware the main play park bit, it has hidden entrances and exits and if you take your eyes off them for half a second it takes a long time to find them again as there are buildings to go in etc >< i couldnt relax at all in the play area. My kids are almost 7 and 6 they enjoyed it last year but this year we went to drayton manor and my 7yr old probably wouldnt want to go back to sundown now!
