First of all apologies in advance I'm still somewhat new to this so couldnt find anything so thought i'd post and seek help from all you wonderful gurus out there
I took out a credit card approx 12ish years ago called the monument card it was originally underwritten by Barclays
It was done partially online partially over the phone I dont remember being asked about PPI
It was then sold on to a company called r.rapheal and son bank 3 years ago I got made redundant and activated what they called a payment break plan all this did was stop any need for payments to be made I queried this at the time but thought nothing further of it
Earlier this year I was signed off sick and still am I received what they called a balance transfer request to a RISE visa where part of my debt would be written off and the rest could be paid of interest free. I havnt accepted this and am waiting for them to chase me
Having now got LTSB for personal loans I have sent Monument the FOS questionnaire has anyone else claimed against them and have any results?

Hi
Wishing you luck on all of your reclaims.
I'm sure there have been a few on here who have made reclaims against Monument, hopefully who will post up soon of their own experience, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Just so you understand the history of your credit card account, if you opened the account 12 years ago or so it would have been with Providian National Bank (the Providian card).
It would have been sold to Barclays in 2003 and re-branded the Monument card, and sold again to Compucredit in 2007.
For you now to have been offered a RISE card your account must have gone significantly delinquent, to the point where your debt would normally have been sold to a DCA. Instead you were offered a RISE card and a debt reduction, Raphaels Bank are the issuer but your debt would still be with Compucredit.
The payment break plan wasn't an insurance product as I understand it so a claim of miss-selling against it probably won't be treated in the same way as PPI complaints are at the moment.
Be interesting to see what you receive back as a result of the FOS questionnaire.0 -
hi, i claimed monument for missold ppi got an offer 3 weeks ago for £449 what was half what i had paid, phoned them and declined the offer, sent a letter informing off my decision and then got an offer of £1200 which was refund off all premiums paid plus 8% interest. So dont take the 1st offer if it is not full refund plus 8% interest, sent offer away but still waiting on cheque0

Hey Jimmy,
I've been trying to reclaim the payment break plan for my partner who didn't realise he was paying for this.
We have received a letter from monument stating that their payment break plan is not ppi but they have offered a good will payment of half the amount. I would like to pursue them for the whole amount but am a little deterred as it doesn't seem to be insurance in the ppi sense.
i am wondering what you put in your letter to them as further grounds?
Your advice would be greatly appreciated :j
(i think i'll be deserving of a holiday after all the good reclaiming i'm doing on his behalf!)
yours
Jane xx0
