Gas Pipe

Does anyone have any idea as to the cost of having gas reconnected to a property? The house we are buying did have a gas pipe a few years ago, but they were removed from the house and capped off. We would need to have the gas reconnected. Laying the new pipes is not a problem, since hubby is a plumber and knows CORGI's in the trade. Is there a lot of work involved or is it just a cse of ringing TRANSCO and arranging form someone to come out and reconnect once the new pipes are laid in the house?:o

We had gas installed a few years ago and was suprised at how cheap it all was.
From memory it was £150 to run a pipe from mains (in the street outside our house) to side of house and putting a meter in about 50 feet in all.0 -
if you call/email transco theyll send you a booklet outlining the costs involved and different options. it has graph paper in it so you pay per metre of pipe. we just wanted to move the gas metre to an outside wall but got sent this pack. you can work out the exact costings this way0

I THINK the best bet is to ring the suplier of your choice and ask for their new supplies dept, as you will need a meter etc as well, and they will install this part for you, and talk you through what else you need to do. If you've had good service with your elec supplier, why not just ring them and ask if they can arrange this for you?0
