How long to burn a dvd?

I am backing up vatious bits and bobs on my hard drive and it seems to be taking about 30 minutes per dvd. These are video DVD's that I am burning.
This is with 16x Sony DVD discs, Nero 6 and XP.
When I start Nero it tells me there is an issue with XP but I'm not sure what?
Should it take this long? Is it longer because I'm on the 'net? Should I get a patch or update for Nero?
Thanks

it depends on the size of the stuff your burning. blnk DVD generally has 4.5 Gig capacity, the bigger the file the longer the burn. Maximum burns should take between 10-20 minutes, if its burning a file from your HD. If the file is on a slave drive it should burn quicker than from your main drive.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

The discs may be 16x but it's the drive speed that counts, that may only be 4x or 8x.
As marleyboy said it can also make a difference where the files are comming from. Ideally the files should be on a hard drive set as master on one channel with the dvd drive set as master on the other channel. If both drives are on the same channel this will slow things down.0
