Can't cover living costs

Hey all,

I've got a bit of a situation, last year I dropped out of university due to mental health issues. I'd already signed a tenancy agreement on a house for next year, but I haven't found anyone to take my place over yet. It's a month into the tenancy now and I've paid my previous months rent, bills etc.

I'm currently living back at home in another county after finishing temporary employment and trying to get a job which I'm sure will come in time. I only have £20 to my name (plus £1000 pounds of debt I ran up whilst in a bipolar hypomanic phase, which I'm now seeking treatment for.).

Job seekers gives me a maximum of £200 a month, and I cannot claim Housing benefit as I'm not living in the house I pay rent on. I would consider moving back to this house so I can at least have money to eat, but I can't afford to, and there is no way of me borrowing money from anyone including family. I'm fit to work so I can't claim disability, and I don't feel I deserve it either.

What can I do? Is there any type of financial help? I can't see anyway out of this until I get a job, but even then I'm a month late on rent as I won't get paid for a while.

Not good.

Go to the university student union - I'm assuming you rented the house as a student, thinking you would be returning for this year? As it's fresher's week in most places now, and again next week in other places, second year and further on students will be returning soon, and many will be currently looking for suitable accommodations. Let the student union know your situation, and they may be able to assist in getting someone to take your room. Do you have roommates in the house that know people looking for somewhere?
