I took out a loan from Paragon which I paid off in 2008. The loan was taken out over 10 years. Is there any way I can claim back ppi from them. Hope someone can help me out. Thank you

    Hi and welcome

Yes you can still give it a go, make them aware you have only recently became aware of the PPI mis selling which you believe applies to you.

All you do is complete the reclaim questionnaire on step 3 below, send to the head office or complaints dept - of whoever sold you the loan account, I take it then the broker were Paragon who sold you the loan?
Remember to keep copies for yourself as well in case you need to refer back to this again at some point.

If they rejected your complaint, I am not sure if you would be able to complain to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) about this company, as I am not sure if they were regulated by GISC, the FSA taken over in Jan 2005, the FOS are only able to adjudicate complaints if the businesses were covered by the above governers at the time you taken out the loan.

However, the FOS may suggest the underwriter/insurer of the loan company as another direction otherwise, so it another way of trying to get your refund back to you.

Worth a go though, good luck and please keep us posted, cheers.;)

  • You can only claim money back if it was missold.

    Do you think it was?

you first need to have a valid reason for complaint as to why the PPI was miss-sold to you.
