he said it might be worth ringing up the main benifit office to claim for low income or somthing like that. i said shes on £90 a week yet we lose tax credits and child benfit hardly worth it as both me and the wife are both on low incomes with two kids thats when he said oh your daughter mighht be able to get help ok i said .0

so it's hardly worth your daughter learning a skill that should improve her job prospects?
the only benefit that supplements low wages ( rather than a job of less than 16 hours a week, when JSA can be claimed, and may 'top up' wages a little) are working tax credits, and you need to be 25 and work 30+ hours a week to claim them.
£90 a week is a lot more than JSA for an 18 year old, and you can't claim for her once she's past her 20th birthday.... and thats only if she's in full time non advanced education.
So an apprenticeship and £90 a week sounds quite good!0 -
i didnt think she could either and im actually over the moon shes got a apprenticeship. it was a conversation with the guy at tax credits that made me thought worth a try as were honest told them straight away yet i work with a guy who with his partner claim two lots of single parent tax credits live together yet are registered at diffrent addreses makes your blood boil .0
