We went to Martha & Vincent in Ilkey for lunch to use my Taste card for the first time. I was told if I was to use the Taste card I could only order off this one menu and after reading it they had doubled the price of the lunch so it wound cost me less if we ordered on the normal menu. Perhaps they think diners are stupid and not notice. The food was ok but nothing special. Could anyone tell me if this is the normal practice? By the way we were the only people in and it took about 1hour 30mins.:j
All restaurants I guess will be different. Personally I've never had any similar issues with Tastecard, Gourmet Society, etc. But I do realise that some people will do.
It totally depends on what each individual restaurant chooses to do. I'd say you were just unlucky - maybe in hindsight next time you could ask when calling to book, whether there is a restricted menu, or the normal one iyswim.0 -
I got one off Ebay for 99p. It was a promotional one and the code expired at the end of July.
Most (but not all) places do not accept it at weekends. All the info is on their website.
A bargain for 99p but I would not pay £70 for it, which is the going rate.
I've had this for a couple of years (after having a free 3 month trial) and only pay £29.95, We generally make that back after 1 meal. Good for chains such as Ask, Bella Italia, Cafe Rouge etc but there's also quite a lot of independent restaurants too. Would def recommend if you eat out regularly (through the week).0 -
I got one free with a magazine sub. They said it
was worth £70. I haven't used it yet, but you see these
bogof promotions all the time in these type of restaurants,
that's why I wouldn't pay for it.0 -

Legless, you should report this to tastecard, as it goes against their terms. If every restaurant done this then no one would use them.0 -
Forgot to say, download the free tastecard app, great to use if your out and about to see whats available nearby0

i have just received a free card from more than pet insurance for renewing.
does anyone know why you have to book in advance at restaurants?
the pessimist in me is thinking it is so they know to give you smaller portions?
