I've just come across a site tastecard.co.uk that gives 50% off your foodbill in restaurants nationwide. They're offering a free trial and I'm thinking of signing up to it.
Have any MSE members used this? If you have is it any good or are there loads of catches and "sorry madam we only accept that card Mondays between 5pm and 5.10pm" situations :eek:when you have tried to use it. It does sound interesting but also seems a little too good to be true!
Also does anyone know how much it costs when the trial is finished and do you need to pay upfront annually or if you can pay monthly and cancel at any time.
Thanks in advance

Martin has mentioned this in previous articles and says: a TasteCard entitles you to 50% off or 2for1 meals at over 3,500 restaurants around the UK, including Thai Square, Spaghetti House, Prezzo and The Real Greek. It's normally £70 for 12 months membership which isn't cheap, but it can be worth it over the year, especially if you often take out large groups.
Restaurants can get mardy if you suddenly produce the card at the end of the meal, so always book ahead, mentioning the offer, then show the card before ordering. TasteCard often offers free one to three-month trial cards; these are always included in the free weekly email.0 -
Some have got them from ebay, think they were leftovers from a promotion, which you may have to mention when entering the code
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=tastecard&_sacat=See-All-Categories
The listing vary from those which say it is a 12 month card to those which do not, so if you do get one from ebay, check first with the seller
The codes are either sent through the post or e-mailed0 -
Have a look here as well. You might find it helpful if you also bookmark it.0

I got one off Ebay for 99p. It was a promotional one and the code expired at the end of July.
Most (but not all) places do not accept it at weekends. All the info is on their website.
A bargain for 99p but I would not pay £70 for it, which is the going rate.0 -
I've tried it before for a month. I didnt really go out during the month so couldn't use it much but there wasnt a problem when i've used it. I've seen people who live in London use them a lot. I don't live there just go there quite a lot and often see people use them and they are accepted without a problem. If you are thinking of going to a particular restaurant it's always a good idea to check out the restaurant restrictions on the Tastecard website. Usually there aren't many but some have more rules than others.0

Thanks a lot everyone, I think I'll give it a try for the month's free trial and then if it's any good buy one from Ebay, they're selling one with a year's memership for £10 buy it now which is amazing! I'll let you know how I've got on with it, 50% off a food bill means we can go out twice as much! Wohoo!0

I received a free Taste card that's valid for a year by adding Dino Chomp as a friend on Facebook. I've only used it so far at Ask - which usually has BOGF deals on anyway! - but there are other places I will be using it over the course of the year.Money, money, money, must be funny, in the rich man's World!0

I've got a Taste Card fron a recent Carphone Warehouse promotion. Have used it a fair amount at local restaurants and at Bella Italia and Pizza Express. Never had any problems. Well worth having.0

We've used Tastecard quite a lot, it's really good value at full price - although as others have mentioned you can get them virtually free from ebay (which is where our latest one is from).
Can definitely recommend.0 -
We went to Martha & Vincent in Ilkey for lunch to use my Taste card for the first time. I was told if I was to use the Taste card I could only order off this one menu and after reading it they had doubled the price of the lunch so it wound cost me less if we ordered on the normal menu. Perhaps they think diners are stupid and not notice. The food was ok but nothing special. Could anyone tell me if this is the normal practice? By the way we were the only people in and it took about 1hour 30mins.:j0
