freeview HD box recording problem

firstly im not to good with cables so please be gentle:)

I have purchased a technika 2010stbhdis freeview HD box, what I am trying to do is to record from the freeview HD box to vhs (yes remember them) I have connected the HD lead from the box to the TV and works fine.

to record I have also connected 1 scart from box to tv, and also 1 from box to the video player.

When I switch to video channel (called L1) it appears all fuzzy and blue, and the recording quality is awful and in different colours to the programme

I have tried the EXCAT same process with my old standard freeview box (i.e. 2 scart leads- one from box to tv, and the other from box to video) and then it records perfect, so Im sure its not the scart leads or the tv.

Do you think its possible the HD box is faulty internally, or can anyone help.

Think you may have multiple services being demanded.
ONE HDMI cable to the TV, and ONE scart cable to the recorder from the Freeview box.
It's probable that the signal is trying to supply TV AND recorder.

Scart from Freeview to TV, will automatically select to view the Freeview channel. but you are not looking for the output of the Freeview box, you are looking for the INPUT to the recorder.
Select the recorder on the TV inputs, and then look at what signal is coming into the recorder (AV1 or AV2 etc) from the Freeview box.

REMOVE the scart from the Freview box to the TV!

[FONT=&quot]If i understand you correctly i have also tried that, the signal coming to the recording channel (i.e. av1) is the fuzzy blue signal that i have described earlier.

I have also tried removing the hdmi lead and using scart cables only, again the same fuzzy.

i will try your suggestion of removing the scart from box to tv and report back
