silicone lubricant Alternative

I am replacing my power shower at the weekend, a like-for-like swap, so it shoud be easy :rotfl:

Reading the instructions it recommends that I apply some silicone lubricant to the pipes before pushing them into the shower fixings.

Now I don't have any silicone lubricant and looking around it would seem I would need to buy a spray can of lube for about £5. Now being MSE, I only need a very tiny bit of lube so I am reluctant to spend a £5 on something I am unlikely to ever use again?

So can anyone recommend an alternative?
Do I really need to lubricate this pipes before fitting?

  • got some vaseline? a tiny smear of that might just do the job for you. i can't think of any reason it would give you a problem.
