Hiya,
If you are using a packet pre-made icing - for a bet it will tell you on the packaging something like "ice the cake the day before eating" or perhaps "for best results store your iced cake for four days..." or even - "eat the same day"Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Hi there
I'm a trained cake decorator and as a general rule we ice our cakes the day before pick up we then advise the client it has a week long shelf life if sponge. We advise that the remaining cake is disposed of after that time. Also don't put it in the fridge under any circumstances to attempt to prolong life, it will just make your sugarpaste go all sticky.

Hi again thanks for the replies! Its a fruit cake (has brandy in it) Ive marzipan-ed it and its now sat waiting lol! Got some other bits of decorating to do but cant carry on until its iced:( Got a box for it & a cool room but unsure!
Its pink Renshaw regal ice (use by may 2012)
Will it look as good in a weeks time as when its first put on?
