time to upgrade!

It has come to the time when i must upgrade my car! I currently have a renault clio 1.6 16v rsi Y reg with 83k on the clock and 3months mot and tax left, ive had it 8years. does anybody know roughly what it will be worth?

In regards to a new car i dont do alot of miles, maybe 8k per annum, i just want a reliable car that will last me a good 6years or so preferably 1.4 to keep insurance, tax and petrol down, my budget is 6-7k, i have been looking at golfs, do they keep there value better than most?

Clio won't be worth much, say £500 maybe less with the short mot and tax. In all honesty it might be more worthwhile just keeping it until it's going to cost too much to repair and then getting rid?

If you definately want something new then for the kind of cash your looking at you will have a world of choice. If you want a new car you'll get a 107/C1 for about £7k - Can also have your pick of the clio sized cars at 1 or two years old for that kind of money too. There aren't really any bad small cars around now, just go and try them all and don't get talked into any "amazing deals"

Ta, yes i may just run the clio in 2 the ground as you suggest and look around in the meantime or maybe use it as a part ex? although il prob get even less then, when buying a new car is better in terms of negotiating if i actually have the cash in my pocket?
