Best Bank Account for 17yr old getting first job?

Hi guys.
My son is hoping to get a part time job soon and therefore will need a bank account. He will be 17 in December and currently has a child account under my name with Barclays but now needs an independant account. I've checked the forum and have noticed there are threads advising an under 18s account.
What I would like to know, is if all of the High Street banks are much of a muchness, or does one stand out from the others.
Thank you.

If only I knew then what I know now

Personally I'd choose the nearest bank to home or work with an ATM that isn't called Santander.
Lloyds TSB pay 2.50% on their U19 current account, but if balances are expected to be low the rate isn't that crucial.0 -
Agree with opinions4u, I prefer lloyds too but stay away from Santander.0

As the others have intimated, there is one bank on the high street that is outstanding. Santander which is outstanding in it's ineptitude. Avoid at all costs.0
