I think our curry will be so much better tomorrow night as second day always better. I also think spag bols, chilli better once frozen and defrosted. Also Lasagne prepared early and allowed to stand is much much better.

i went shopping last week and bought some mince for £3, i made a hugeeee spag bol in my 6.5 litre slow cooker it did 3 of us and the rottweiller:rolleyes:(the dog loves stuff mixed with his iams) a big portion each for tea there was loads left so we (3+ dog) had spag bol next night too as we love it!:D the next night we had a pasta bolognese bake with garlic bread etc (3+dog) and yes you`ve guessed it still loads left :rotfl: the next night i was fed up with bolognese so i turned the leftovers into a chilli :T (3 + dog again
) and there was still loads left  soooo i then made a big roasting tray full of lasagne which we all ate but then there was still half a tray of lasagne left and i couldnt face eating a mince meal again so after pulling something out of the freezer i made room for the lasagne and prized it in!;) i have never in my life had so many meals out of one pack of mince and it got to be a bit of a standing joke in my house, the mince that wouldnt die!:rotfl: so for an outlay of £3 a couple of onions, garlic 4 tins of white label tomatoes, a tin of kidney beans and white label lasagne sheets which cant of cost more than £4.50 altogether it has fed us all week :rotfl: :T
proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance!Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat moneyquote from an american indian.0 -

Yesterday's soup
One very small cauli that was going soft
An onion, chopped
A tub of chicken stock from a previous chicken
A tub of leftover roast parsnips, potatoes, onion, peas and carrots and gravy from Sunday lunch.
Fried onion, added cauli, leftovers and stock. Cooked till soft, added some milk and a handful of cheese and blitzed with stick blender.
Delicious lunch. There are leftovers for today's lunch
Making something yummy out of leftovers is most satisfying.0 -
Monday, I made some chicken soup using carcass of very small frozen chicken from Lidl (from memory - cost 1.15) that my OH and I had roast for Sunday lunch.
I added a leftover leek from the fridge, two chopped potatoes, couple of sticks of celery and some frozen carrots (I froze them before they had to chance to get rubbery in the fridge!). I then added some dried soup mix and chicken stock cube and topped with water.
All day in the slow cooker and I had some late afternoon for tea - it was yum!
I then had some yesterday for lunch and OH took some to work for lunch. I will the last portion for lunch today too!
Six meals out of a small chicken and some manky veg - Not bad eh!Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!
