Soldering Iron / Electronic components in city centre

Im looking for somewhere i can get a soldering iron, some wire strippers + cutters and other electronic components in the city centre. Anyone know where?

what city ? the only place i know is maplins in llansamlet enterprise park... we had bit and peices like that for christmas for our youngest.....

Yup. It's got to be Maplins for that sort of stuff really. They've moved out of City Road now but have bigger premises in Newport Road. Not exactly city centre but not too far out.

Tom Whitehouse in Swansea Market, they sell everything, and can even order stuff if they don't have it

Is Marks still there in one of the arcades?

Marks was a great shop. If I remember correctly it was in the Wyndham arcade. I'm fairly sure that it closed many moons ago and I think Charlie Marks died. It's probably a skateboarding shop or something now.

I guess you'd get a soldering iron and wire cutters somewhere upstairs in the market, but if you want a 500 pica farad capacitor you're stuffed.

this has made me realise just when i was last in his shop... 1978, almost thirty years ago!!!
