Returning an Internet ordered item

Hi there

After a quick bit of advice on a return to an Amazon seller if anyone can help please! I bought a beard trimmer but I'm really disappointed with its performance so I contacted the seller via Amazon and they agreed I could return it, but omitted the address I should return it to. I responded to their message asking for the address, and received a message from a different member of staff at the seller saying that I could not return it as the item had been opened. I responded that someone had already agreed I could return it and received another response saying I can't as it has been opened, as per their returns policy and apologies for the misunderstanding.

So... if they have authorised my return, can they now say I can't send it back? Any thoughts appreciated!

Thanks
Dom
