Parking Fine with Old Permit

Hi there,

I've received a parking ticket for parking 'Without a valid permit or authority'. I WAS displaying a parking permit, but they reckon its an old permit, but the signs just say a valid permit and the permit I used states it doesn't expire till the end of this year.

I think they dont really have a leg to stand on. But after reading the advice on mse, i'm a bit confused.

- Do I just ignore the letters?

- Write to them and state the pass I had said it was valid (but then i'm admitting to parking there)?

- Or just write to them and say i'm not paying, end of story?

The company is UKCPS btw, if that changes anything.

Thanks,
Subby

  • Yes, it changes everything. At first I thought it was a council so was about to tell you how to sort it, as its a private parking company all you need to do is
    ignore,
    ignore the next letter,
ignore the next two threats and
ignore the last begging letter and then they go away.
If it ever went to court (it won't) then you have got a current pass so game over.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Do a search for UKCPS in this forum - That should set your mind at rest about ignoring them! :)

    AGREE 100% with above
    Ignore, stay Ignoring.

However dont get pulled in by traps and loopholes or by trying to be proved right, thats how this scam works, by tempting you in to a dialogue.
Now direct your anger to those who allowed theses crooks and scammers to operate, they will be in on the scam and getting a cut of the scam money. SHAME THEM ! it is nothing less than they deserve, make some fake shame fines and post them up around the scam site, see how they like it up em.

Ignore UKCPS and I would ignore Haswell if he messages you with threats on this board.
  • Thought as much :)

Been reading some more. Its very tempting to 'prove' i had a valid pass and write to them, but i see this is a waste of time.

Ignoring i shall be doing. Looking forward to scrap paper over the next few weeks.

Thats how the Scam works, by getting you to take the bait, then they refuse your "appeal" even though you never asked for one and ramp up the pressure and then you realise that you are now playing a game where they make up all the rules as they go along .

If Haswell did try court, your permit is an absolute defence anyway, and obviously a copy would be part of your defence/counterclaim, so he will get his backside kicked if he did, even if you sent him 100 emails saying you were the driver imho
