Faulty power adapter for new Samsung Netbook

Options
Hi all,

My son's shiny new netbook arrived yesterday from Amazon, all fine, but as he was setting up he noticed that the battery showed as not charging at all. Tried everything, new fuse in plug, etc, etc, to no avail, mr Mr even tried electric meter thingy to see if any output, nothing. So contacted Amazon via chat and was told to get a new adapter "if you can find a local supplier" and they will refund. Fine. Just tried last night everywhere to source one! Pretty confusing with all the writing miniscule on the back of the thing!! Went to Samsung uk website and there was a link to Digicare? Thinking of contacting them as there are a few on there but pretty confusing as to the correct one - or PC world?

I would be really grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction for getting an original Samsung adapter for a Netbook NC110, thanks so much in advance!!! :)

The NC10 is quite old now, the places I got my replacements from don't stock them anymore.

You will find a few generic chargers that fit in places like Maplins, you could ask Amazon for a partial refund and purchase one of these, or return the whole lot for a refund or a new laptop complete with charger.

Send everything back and get a brand new one.

If the charger you find isn't quite right and causes problems it will be down to you with no comeback.

They are trying to wash their hands of the problem. Was it actually Amazon.co.uk that you purchased from or another company selling from within their site?
  • Thanks for your replies, yes it was Amazon who actually supplied it. Now last night the charger decided to work (intermittently), it charged for a while and then didn't again. It charged enough to be left on all night (no way was I going to keep it plugged in with a dodgy charger!), to get on with updates (see my new separate post!!), but obviously isn't ideal or right. My Mr decided to buy a new charger from .... wait for it..... Amazon!!! (can't believe he did this) from a different seller. He checked all the numbers, it's the right one (apparently). I want to return it all. My son is just impatient and wants it working, you know, immediately:o

Now we have the problem with updates. It's been stuck doing the same one (28 out of 42) all night, on Windows 7 starter. I'm at my wits end after only barely 2 days of having it!! Something obviously isn't right and I just want to send it back - the boys of the household, however, have different ideas. :(

Send it back now. Reset the Notebook to factory settings. It sounds like it was a returned Notebook anyway.
Dont ask on Amazon Chat if you can send it back. I am not sure if there is a phone number but if there is use that or email them.
On Amazon it says you have to pay to return it ! No way as it wasnt right the day you bought it.Tell them that and that you used Amazon Chat so have complained about it.
Looks like you paid over £200 for a old Notebook .

    The NC110 isn't that old a model.

It's still being sold by major retailers inc Argos, Comet and online reviews from Tech Radar and Expert reviews are from July this year. I think there has been some confusion with the NC10 and the N110, both of which have been superseded by Daisygirls NC110 which is the latest version.
  • ok, I moved the netbook so to use the PC as it was on the desk in the way... now the far left blue light came on when my hand was against the back of the battery part and it moved very slightly? The light on the adapter has stayed on though.......... it is just screaming "return me you fool!!" at the moment lol...

That'll be nearly 24 hours doing the same update (if it's doing it!)

Daisy get rid of it. Get in touch with Amazon and arrange to get it picked up at their cost .
I am not saying send it back because of the Windows update but because the charger it came with was no good.Dont mention the updates just say the charger that came with it does not work and you want a replacement Notebook .
I would have installed the oldest updates first in a block of 8/10 first.
