how do I delete outlook contacts?

in Techie Stuff
I delete contacts from my outlook however if I type in a new e-mail a simliar or same as name as delted they still appear or even if I have not entered the contact this e-mail address still appears in the lsit.
E.g name peter@---- will bring up all peters or petra etc typed in the past.
Any ideas how to remove these addresses once and for all?

When the list of matching email addresses appears in the To: or CC: box, use the arrow keys to highlight the address to be deleted and press the Delete key.0
