Lately I've been ordering loads of stuff off ebay for our wedding. Mostly we're out when it comes and we get a card so rearrange delivery or pick it up...no problems. Today there's a card but it says the parcel's been put through a window at the back. Knowing the only possible open window at the back would be on the lean-to on the back of the kitchen we went in there. The window is about 6ft off the ground and postie has shoved a parcel (about 18 x 12 x 10") through the window where it's obviously dropped onto the tumble drier and then fallen onto the floor. Couldn't believe anyone would actually 'deliver' a parcel like that...especially when the sender has written 'FRAGILE' right across the front of it! Luckily it was well packed inside, and though there was minor damage we were able to fix it so nothing's spoilt for us. I have written to RM, not after compo, but just to make sure they try to make sure it doesn't happen again, but it does make you wonder just what the postie thought he was doing...and it would actualy have been more work for him to do that than to just pop the card in and take parcel back!

well you seem to know better so I'll leave you with that one0 -

you are asking me to answer a question on what someone else has done
how would I?
I bet 000's of packages are put through windows in this very fashion with no issue
perhaps it seemed like there wouldnt be a drop as seen by dropping ont a tumble drier and then falling off
perhaps it slipped as they were seeing if there was a sill on the other side
perhaps they slipped on a Rolo left by someone who rejected the amorous advances of the boy 10 doors down
Its not delivery spec for a good reason, however a look over the forum makes it seem that following the rules makes you a jobsworth when it suits and an idiot when it doesnt0 -

Well seeing as you've already commented on what someone else has done
what's wrong with asking if you think that anyone with any common sense would see anything wrong with doing what they did?which means its likely they thought they were doing you a favour,no?
Following all of the rules may be considered by some as making a jobsworth out of a person, but I doubt if there are many who wouldn't consider that dropping a package marked as fragile through a 6' high window wouldn't be considered as stupid.however a look over the forum makes it seem that following the rules makes you a jobsworth when it suits and an idiot when it doesnt
So instead of only dropping it once, they may have considered that dropping it twice might be better!perhaps it seemed like there wouldnt be a drop as seen by dropping ont a tumble drier and then falling off0 -

in context with what was posted

I dont know and neither do you. 6' on the outside doesnt mean 6' on the inside

yes Im sure their plan was just that.
Im not sure why you feel the need to labour the point.
As i said its not delivery spec for good reason0 -
ah here it is
no insults for me today. poor show

Ill pass, thanks - your posts are so utterly simplistic and self-centred it's like reading the Santa list of a major lobotomy victim.
You lack any appreciation of the concept 'customer service'. You seem content, happy even to trickle down each and every RM-related thread with your own peculiar brand of puppy-dog support for your old employer.
I say old, I presume you weren't even good enough to post a few envelopes through the odd letterbox. Unless you decided rabid support for a completely FUBAR organisation was best undertaken independently, and walked.
I await your one liner retorts.0
