Sports Direct rant

My son needed new football boots, so I took him to Sports Direct. There was a stand just inside the front door with boxes of boots on a special promotion that he liked.
At the moment his feet are either size 4 or 5 depending on the shoe, so I picked up a box marked size 4 and he tried those first. They fit so we went to the till.
The lady opened the box and said the box was marked size 4 but the boots were marked size 5. I said it didn't matter as they fit him, so we'd take them anyway. She said she couldn't sell me size 5 boots in a size 4 box. I asked why as I'd only throw the box away when we got home, but she insisted it was store procedure and called for someone on the radio.
A bloke came and took the boots away back to the front of the store. He was away ages, then came back said he couldn't find a size 5 box with size 4 boots in, so he was going to check the stock room.
Waited a bit longer and he came back with the same boots and box and said a pair of 5's must have been sold in a size 4 box, so we'd have to take them in the wrong box but it would need to be clearly marked.
Then we had to wait while the lady rummaged around the till area until she found a black marker pen, so she could cross out the number 4 and wrote a 5 on the box instead.
Paid and went home. Son got the boots out later on to have another look at them and we discovered in all the commotion, they'd never bothered taking off the security tag  Thankfully I managed to attack it with some pliers and got it off myself.
What a complete farce for no reason!

Sports Direct are ... awful. In a word!
My partner used to work there, the managers... it must be dark magic that got them to where they are on such few brain cells.
They entice you in with displays of bargains for the kids and then you end up in a shop where time stands still.
Yeeshk.

current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)
new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,0000 -
They still have the cheapest s[ports shoes for kids though. you just have to be prepared to wait about for assistance....for a long long time! But the sports direct mugs are awesome. I love a big mug of tea and their mugs are the biggest I have found. I have two - but might buy a couple more.0

try taking your size 5 boots back in a size 4 box! that's probably what it's all about; if you have to return them you'll need to take them back as you got them. If those staff weren't there you'd have to convince people that you weren't trying it on.0 -

Why would I take them back though, when they fitted, were cheap and what my lad wanted? I did say I was happy with them to the lady as they fitted him. Here I go again on my own....0 -
My local Sports Direct is always boiling hot. I hate going in there.~
Heaven's heard me calling. The stars have all aligned.0 -
Just had a cycling jersey delivered. Not a problem generally but as they decided to give me a mug, it meant that it would not through the letter box and I had to collect it from the Post Office.
I dont drink tea or coffee!
Nice gesture, but delayed my lycra wearing for a few days.....some may say that's a good thing though!0 -
