Photo editing software

Options
Just got my wedding photos back and want to edit them myself.

My mum is not impressed with the redness on some of them on her neck, plus also wants some of her eye wrinkles taking off,lol

I'd also like to slim my arms down a bit.

What is the best program to use?

Thanks
Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 2016

Photoshop is the best, although it is expensive.

These are free, and the first one is for the last freeware version, so if it offers to update, click no

Two things worth doing, you can make a copy of the image and only work on that, or open an image, click file, click save as, name it, save it, check the original image is there as well

Edit the saved as - renamed image only

If you get to a point where you are reasonably happy, click to save the image, then if you make any further changes, click file, save as, name it, then click save. This can save you having to start over if any additional tweaking makes the image worse.
  • gimpshop.com is your best bet - it'll give you power simlar to photoshop for free and there's plenty of online help and tutorials.

Be ready for a steep learning curve, though. What you want to do is not just a couple of clicks away.
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.

  • I would say Photoshop is the best bet! I'm currently doing the same thing for my brother and his wedding!!

If you go the photoshop route, you could look at photoshop elements first, then upgrade if you need to. For infrequent editing, it is not worth spending a lot on

    Try these:

Hornil Style Pix - Free version, a surprisingly good alternative to Photoshop:

    http://hornil.com/en/downloads/

Faststone viewer - more basic image editing/correction but excellent ordering management functions:

    http://www.faststone.org/

Both are straightforward, resource-easy, very effective and far easier to use than the impenetrable behemoth that is Gimp! :)
