posting to non-paypal address?

Hi,
I have sold a couple of small items on ebay the last couple of days, and one person has asked me to post to their work address-which is fine-but it isn't the address that Paypal says is OK to post to.
Do I -
1) just post to there and lose seller protection (its not a vast amount of money-£10 but it's the principle
)
2) send it to the paypal address
3) can I get him to change his address on Paypal? I know I have my work address as my Paypal address. Is this possible-would I have to refund the payment and get him to pay again?
Thanks

In order to add another address to Paypal you would need to refund and the buyer would need to pay again.
That's a lot of faffing around for a tenner, I don't think that refunds are instant.0 -
If it's standard mail it makes no difference, you're not protected by PayPal for standard mail anyway0

Exactly the same thing happened to me this evening.hotcookie101 wrote: »Hi,

It's very easy.
Ask the buyer to add the work address in PayPal
Refund
When new address shows up in 'order details'
send another invoice
carry on- simple
It is the principle, yes, you're right
sellers send to an address not in PayPal or eBay then claim they've not received it and get a refund, that's the scam.
And by refunding you'll know if they're real, because they'll either add their new address and pay or they wont. If they don't add the address and pay, just open a non payment case.
No need to write off any of your hard-earned cash when you can protect yourself as a seller so simply0 -
If its a cheap item as the OP says it probably won't be sent tracked anyway so paypal protection isn't in the equation. I normally would just send it as I don't believe everyone is out to scam me on a £10 item. Proof of posting will cover for any loss and you also don't annoy your customers by accusing them of being scammers on such a low value item.MissGivings wrote: »

Obviously I wouldn't suggest anything so idiotic as accusing customers of anything! If its a cheap item as the OP says it probably won't be sent tracked anyway so paypal protection isn't in the equation. My point though is by wanting them to repay and enter a new address for a low value item is you are implying that they cannot be trusted. Some buyers may take umbrage at going through all that for acheap item.'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

Thanks everyone, I didn't realise wasn't protected by paypal anyway-will just post it. It's just a bit of a pain as can't buy the postage label from paypal.0
