Skandia CRA - Client Extranet

Options
It could be me but it seems EVERY time I try to logon on Skandia, they are carrying out "essential online maintenance".

Does anyone know why their system is so often down - I've not seen this level of falling over with other providers in the past.

"Due to essential maintenance the Skandia Investment Solutions platform will be unavailable from 19.00 until 21.00, 28 September 2011.

If the maintenance work completes ahead of schedule we'll be back up and running sooner.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused."

I have had a similar frustration and am monitoring this as I have only moved over to Skandia this year (because I was told their customer service was very good):T

They do this about 1 in 3 weekends. Unusual during the week though. Although they did have an issue in the last few days if your portfolio held the blackrock trackers. The IFA extranet couldnt get values, scans, llustrations and submit new transactions if you held at least one blackrock fund.

Its odd, to be honest it doesn't seem that sophisticated a front end so I wonder why it always needs maintenance.

I have noticed the odd mild glitch when you switch funds can appear to disappear or statement not add up.
  • Do not rate the commision I'm paying at the minute with the.

Found out with a fund of 118000 I have paid £518 + £67 annual charge - this is for 8months.

I only put £161 in a month = rip off

Where does the £518 go to?
    To an IFA?
If you check this out I may have a suggestion for you.
Send me a PM if you wish.
    regards

ps I logged onto the Extranet last night...no problem.

Hi Gatser, is this a Skandia self-select SIPP set up by an IFA? Remember you discussing potential providers some time ago.

If so would be interested to know how you get on with any DIY purchase of funds, etfs, shares, i.e. dealing and annual costs for holding them. Any idea how Skandia annual costs on a selection of funds compare with other providers (based on ISAs below though).

Brief feedback would be really useful. :)

    Examples from previous post:

    Investec emerging market debt
    Alliance trust: 1.5% (0.75% rebate) = 0.75%
    Cavendish (cofunds): 1.5% (0.5% rebate) = 1.0%
    Hargreaves Lansdowne: 1.5% (0.1% rebate) = 1.4%

    Aberdeen emerging markets
    Alliance trust: 1.5% (0.75% rebate) = 0.75%
    Cavendish (cofunds): 1.75% (0.5% rebate) = 1.25% (also +0.25% initial)
    Hargreaves Lansdowne: 1.75% (0.25% rebate) = 1.5%

Invesco Perpetual, 1.5% on say HL, 0.75% on Alliance Trust

You are mixing up fees and commission. How is it a rip off?

That's an appallingly bad outage rate from any company that thinks of itself as a major player. Not that they are alone, Standard Life also seems to take a very casual attitude to keeping their systems online, with routine outages every night. Gives me the impression that neither company has capable professionals managing their systems or that higher management is denying them the resources they need to do a competent job.
