Ordered online. Received items, yet one isn't EXACTLY what i ordered.

Options
Need some parts for the girlfriends motor as it failed its MOT.

Bought new shocks & new springs from http://www.buypartsby.co.uk

Anyway, i paid for some KYB front shocks - which came no problem.

I also ordered KYB springs for the job too, here: http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/kyb-coil-springs-final.php?make=Vauxhall&model=Corsa&sub=&eng=1.2&year=2002

In fact, the very one i paid for was part no. RH2651
Corsa 1.2 (2000-2003)
02/01-10/03
Kayaba KYB RH2651
Location : Front
Spring Type: E (One End - Pigtail, One End - Pigtail

So when the box arrives today, i find ONE KYB branded spring & one "imposter" spring.

This imposter had the same part number stamped on it, but it's very clearly not a KYB spring.

I stood them side-by-side and the coils are different. When one spring is on its 3rd coil, the other is still only on its 2nd.
The height & gauge is the same - so i'm told this SHOULD mean that they'll be ok to use together, but even if they're perfectly fine to use together, it's not the point.

I ordered symmetrical units - KYB brand to be precise and i didn't receive it.

Notice: when you click that specific part number, any mention of the brand "KYB" disappears. It's also not mentioned in any email or the invoice i received.

I'm not happy. I'm going to have to get in touch with a chap at work to see if he can get hold of one for me at short notice as i need one for this weekend.

So, the part number is the same, yet it's not the brand i paid for. Where do i stand?

Comments

  • I'd imagine i'm well within my rights to return the item, as a) it's not what i paid for & b) i've only just received it today.

Further question is: should i have to pay for postage on this? It's quite weighty. It isn't MY fault that the wrong item was sent out & if they sent what i paid for then i wouldn't be returning anything. Therefore i don't see why i should have to pay for costly postage.

Never had a problem with buypartsby.

I would expect them to collect the spring (or springs) and deliver a matching set.
