Housing benefit and online calculator

Hi everyone
I've had a look at a couple of benefit calculators which say I should be entitled to housing benefit, but I don't think the result sounds right.
My husband earns around £21000 - his basic wage is actually around £15000 but this is going on last years figures with overtime, so have given the higher rate as a figure to tax credits.
We are currently getting £81 a week in child tax credits (twins under 1, me on maternity allowance)
The calculators have both said I could receive around £60 a week in housing benefit.... this doesn't seem right to me though from what I've read on other forums? (too high!) I know these calculators can be wrong but they were spot on with my tax credits.
The sites were entitled to and a benefit checker on a council website (but not my local council- they link to the DVLA website which were way off and said I should be earning an extra £100 in tax credits, very strange!)
Any thoughts? I'm not sure whether to apply anyway and see if we are entitled to something? Or would it be a complete wate of time (those figures just don't seem right to me!)
Thanks

are you renting private or social housing?the benefits are different for each
tbh your income seems high for HB but you never know,if i were you i`d tele the councils HB dept and ask,or just apply0 -
Twins under one? Wowzers, I'm in awe! My lo has just turned one and she's a handful on her own! Hope I'm not teaching you to suck eggs, but I always pass this on as I didn't know about it, and although it's not directly related to your query it may help. When on SMP, you minus the first £100 per week for tax credit purposes - slashes your income right down
(and if you're on MA, you don't include any of it) As for HB, I'd apply and just see what happens, worth a punt x 0 -
thanks, I will give them a ring. Yep twins keep me very busy, can't wait until they both hit the terrible twos!0
