Click chat, options then go offline
  • Just set your status to offline at the bottom right of the page and never change it again.
  • done that, it just resets it to available next time i log on. any permanant solutions?

    Hmmm...not sure then.

I didn't use the chat function either but accidently touched the chat icon which turned chat on automatically.
  • Yours must be broken then mine stays offline when I do that.

yes, click that and then untick the 'available to chat' option, that will keep you offline permanently,

then to hide the chat bar click the little arrow thing next to the cog.

if for some reason it doesn't keep you offline you may have left yourself logged into somewhere eg another computer or something like live messenger, or you may have to log out of facebook and clear your browsers cache.
you can see if you are logged into somewhere else by going 'account settings> security> active sessions' you can then log out of each one and if you don't recognise one where you logged in then change your password.
