Will Common Sense Prevail?

I'm guessing that I've got some bank charges outstanding. I'm going to go through my statements and see what is what.

I want to approach my bank face to face and request they make a partial offer which which I will use the funds to reduce my OD with them. I don't get any cash out of it and it puts them in a better position with me.

Do you think they will listen to common sense or is it time to start looking for another bank?

I'll let you know.

Thanks,

Twon.

  • Hi Twon,

Just wanted to let you know that I did this last year with Smile bank, with whom I had a £500 overdraft (I spent every month at its limit!) My charges amounted to more than this, so I wrote them two letters, after the second one they credited my account with the £600 odd pounds and didn't ask me to close the account. I did however, as I was just glad to pay the overdraft off and get well rid of it...... but I was amazed at how easy the whole process was.

    Hope this is some help?

i have had an account and a great relationship with my bank for the last 12 yrs , i also know the manager quite well and get on with him . I approached him first and told him the situation and he said that I had to go through the usual "paper" procedure .

I'd like to think I get on well with my bank manager.

I'll speak to them and see what happens.

    :)
