My ds who is 14 got How to avoid a wombat's Bum and other fascinating facts by Mitchell Symons for his birthday, its a great book, and he is always picking it up and reading interesting facts. Another good book one is The Dangerous Book for Boys.0

I started a similar thread a couple of months ago and got loads of excellent suggestions, so might be worth a look:

When my son was 13 he loved (and still does) anything to do with Cars so Top Car or Top Gear books, anything by Jeremy Clarkson, The Simpsons type cartoon books you can get, anything StarTrek/Next Generation orientated and he also liked Ian Flemings Bond books.0

Why not start off with something you know he will be interested in and let things develop from there?Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0 -
It really depends what takes his fancy. He might like adult fiction such as Chris Ryan or Dan Brown or even the Sharpe series of books by Cornwell (try the adventure section in your local library).
There should be a teen section in your library too. I'd recommend Horowitz, Pullman's Dark Material's trilogy and perhaps Charlie Higson's Young James Bond books.MFW 2019#24 £9474.89/£11000 MFW 2018#24 £23025.41/£15000

He's interested in facts , but his school want him to read more novels.Trouble is our local library is rubbish and he can't find anything he likes at school. He has out grown the books we have at home or they are too old for him.

Hmm, I loved Adrian Mole at that age (and still do, very much) probably not the newer ones, but the first two definitely.
I also used to love George Orwell, (again, I still do)
I loved books, but i guess he's not going to be into Judy Blume like I was!!!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
