bose system or similar

Options
We are looking to get rid of our amp and speakers etc and replacing it with a bose system or something similar. We want to use it as a sound dock and also have audio in for laptop etc.

Has anyone got any recommendations for the best one to buy.

When see any Bose equipment I am amazed that they have the bare-faced cheek to charge so much for so little.
Firms that don't specify a price on their advertisements always fill me with profound suspicion...

I'd suggest having a look at the Pure Avanti Flow, or maybe Denon separates.

Bose - sold to the gullible on QVC.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • Thats why I thought I would ask on here. I thought there would be something else to rival it. I have heard the Bose and it does sound really nice. But as you said Grossly overpriced.

When I had a little more money than sense, I bought a set of Bose Acoustimass 5 speakers about 20 years ago. Still got them and they still sound terrific. Had the surround amp (not Bose) that drives them repaired twice, but the speakers keep on going. So I suppose I've had my money's worth?

  • Depends how much you want to spend?

Don't know why you don't buy some speakers with built in amps?

We want to get the right sound and the right system for us so don't mind spending the money if the product is OK. I'm a bit techno tragic I'm afraid so although I know what I like I'm not always sure what to look for so can easily be sold something by the salesperson. :o

Not sure on how speakers with amps would work. I've not seen them before.

Much will depend on how much you want to spend.

And on what you want to achieve.
