Few questions about working tax credits.

1) Can you claim working tax credits if you are under 25 but have an illness/or disability, I read on the HMRC website it is possible. Would I need to be on DLA?
2) on an income of around £12,000 a year, how much would I be likley to receive a month.
3) is the form a long and difficult one, or a short and simple

1) Yes. However you do not need to be on DLA. You can get it if you have a condition that limits the type of work you can do and the amount of hours you can do/days you can work. This would need to be supported by a letter from a specialist or GP and is far harder to get than if you do get DLA where entitlement is automatic but not impossible.
2) Go to Entitledto.com and put in the details as a 25 year old single person.
3) Not massively. Mostly details of income.0 -

So I could get it just by getting my GP? Would the tax credits contact my work place?0 -

No, you have to be in receipt of or have recently received a qualifying benefit.
You need to meet all 3 conditions set out in the TC956.

DLA is one of the qualifying benefits but there are many other combinations.
I suspect the previous poster is referring to condition 2 - the disadvantage in work test. But that isn't enough in itself to get the disability element of tax credits.
