E-On Constantly Changing! Problems

Please bare with the length! Any help is much appreciated.

In August, hearing about the price increases... I used uswitch to compare which company would be cheapest for me to change to.

E-On it was! Move over Southern Electric and British Gas!

SaveOnline8 was the cheapest tariff so thats what I chose! (2% cheaper than the Standard E-On Tariff.

A week later, E-On announced price increases.

I called customer services, naturally the systems were down, but I was assured by the representative that I would not be affected, as I had signed up before the price increase was announced.

I then went on to receive a letter announcing a price increase. I called customer services. They mentioned that there may be a cheaper alternative to move to within E-On. Back to USwitch.

SaveOnline9 was now the cheapest. Though not cheaper than my original SaveOnline8 tariff.

E-On could not move me across to SaveOnline9 as the Electricity account was still pending... they told me to regularly check back with my Online Account.

Last week, I attempted to change. SaveOnline9 was no where to be seen, and had since been replaced by SaveOnline10.

Two price changes. In TWO weeks.

Im fuming! SaveOnline8 was originally cheapest. Now I have to move to SaveOnline10 because SaveOnline9 no longer exists.

Back to USwitch to see if SaveOnline10 is still the cheapest.

It wasn't. Scottish Power now is.

As irritating as it would be to change over, plus the £30 charge I may have to pay E-on for leaving. Is this a good idea.

Can I negotiate with E-On?

Any advice before I pick up the phone or write to them

    Hi ibora,

Sounds like you switched in between the price increases and this has caused a bit of confusion.

If you switched over to us and signed up to SaveOnline 8 then this is the tariff that you should be on.

You are right in what you have said, we are now only offering SaveOnline 10.

I'm sure we can sort something out for you :D

If you drop me an email to the address in my profile page with your details, I can do it now.

  • If the OP is on SaveOnline 8 and the customer service said she would not be affected, as she had signed up before the price increase was announced. And SO9 was not cheaper than her original SO8 tariff. Then surely she is already on the cheapest tariff and a move to SO10 would increase her charges?

Or is SO10 even after the prices increases cheaper than the original prices of SO8?
  • SO8 was cheaper than SO9/SO10 but because of the increases, it is now no longer the case!
i was told that i would not be affected by the increases.

When I signed up the prices were the following:

    SO8 Prices (inc vat) were
    Electricity - 21.473p/kWh
    after 900kWh - 9.755p/kWh

    Gas - 7.115p/kWh
    after 2680kWh - 3.078p/kWh

These prices were then changed to:

NEW SO8 Prices (inc vat) were
    Electricity - 22.974p/kWh
    after 900kWh - 11.193p/kWh

    Gas - 8.402p/kWh
    after 2680kWh - 3.635p/kWh

I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD NOT BE AFFECTED AS I HAD SIGNED UP BEFORE THE INCREASES WERE ANNOUNCED!

It now appears that Scottish Power would now be cheaper for me to switch to; I am furious that I may have to pay the cancellation fee for E-On.

FYI: Scottish Power Rates are the following:

Gas unit rates: 7.194p per kWh 3.303p per kWh above 2680 kWh p.a
Electricity unit rates: 20.969p per kWh 10.082p per kWh above 900 kWh p.a

Can someone from E-On contact me? PM please.
