Moving in costs 3k... what kind of place are you renting? perhaps your first place together could be a little less expensive? I know London can cost a lot, but that seems way over the top. Does the hospital not have any of its own staff accomodation that you could move into to begin with. Getting yourself into extra debt if it can be avoided would be a much better solution.

I will talk to my bank about my overdraft and any other way they may be able to help me. I haven't received the official offer letter yet, but have just been informed that it should arrive very soon as all references, CRB, etc have been done.

I didn't realise I can't pay for those things with a credit card...I was hoping I could pay straight off the card, or transfer money to my current account.

I did briefly think about a graduate loan, but was hoping to avoid this seems as I already have thousands to pay back in student debt! Maybe it is something I will have to consider if I can't get money from elsewhere.

Unfortunately I do not have any rich family members!

CRB can sometimes take a while!
  • Get your boyfriend to lent the money?

Ask for an advance of your pay for the move?

Did you actually read the OP? Both of those are a no-go

I scanned it so missed those bits. In that case a graduate loan with your current bank seems like the best idea.

My best friend got a graduate loan when they first moved down here - it was the only option for her.

Personally I temped doing whatever jobs I could while searching for my dream job in London. That combined with a few hundred pounds from the bank of Mum and Dad and the dregs of my overdraft did it. Have you looked at some last minute work? It doesn't have to be career enhancing, just paying.

Thanks cankle, I do plan on selling some things, but at a car boot sale next week. I don't expect I'll make any more than £50 though. Clinical trials...I am not opposed to these, but not sure I could get the money I need within the next 2 weeks! How/where did you sign up for these though?

My boyfriend needs to move out of his current place ASAP, but there's a chance I may be able to stay there for 2 weeks maximum before we can move into our new place. We can't move here though until all these fees etc have been paid!

    Thanks.

Regarding the clinical trials just google test with the best, I dont know your location but the clinic is in Leeds, there are other companies across the UK that do clincal trial but I cannot speak for them as Ive not used them! I can recommend Covance though. Once you get registered its just a matter of finding a trial you are suitable for, do the trial get the money and thats that! (obviously its a bit more to think about and very well regulated but thats the jist of it!) Best of luck, I hope things work out for you and you get yourself sorted out x

put off getting a flat until you can actually afford it.

rent a room until you can, then you only need a week in hand, not £2k

£25k will not go far in London, best not have too much debt.
    Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.

Word of caution they often will not take women of childbearing age as they don't know what effect the drugs will have. But worth a look, I agree.
