Hi,
Does anybody know anything about security deposits for gas??
I have my electric with utility warehouse and have had for over a year, I know want to move my gas to them, and they have said that's fine, but they want a £100 security deposit for them to hold onto for 12 months, I pay my electric via dd and would be paying gas via dd as well, what on earth do they need a security deposit for?? are they worried I will run away with the gas meter?? what's the deal, I stuggle to buy food each month when my bills have been paid, I can't afford to give them £100 of my monet to sit on, that is 2 weeks of food shopping!!!
Any info, please and thank you!:(

Your annual gas bill will be much more than your annual elec bill. They have probably run a credit check and decided that they want a security deposit to ensure they get paid. Typically a supplier will keep this for 6 to 12 months and then repay it.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

If you have had your electricity with them for a reasonable time and you have paid in full and in good time, then they are being unreasonable.
It sends a strong message that they do not want your business. Personally, I would move my electricity away from them and look for another gas supplierHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. why pay another one of npowers companys, they own themDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
