Not sure I should be posting this offer as I wonder how the heck they subsidise the farmers when they sell them at this price. Seems ironic as these are free range eggs as well. Doesn't appear ethical either does it?

I've never known a poor farmer so I wouldn't worry.0

but you can say that about any special offers, supermarkets run these offers to get people through the door and at those prices they don't make any money from them but they hope you'll spend more on other things.
most supermarkets slash the price of several staple items everyweek to try and out-price-offer each other to get us to do our weekly shops with them.
i personally buy veg and milk when i see them on offer so i can't then criticise them for doing the same with free range eggs. this is afterall a moneysaving forum where people come here looking for ways to save money, maybe its a new brand onto the egg market and thats their intoductory offer...... either way it would make my a hypocrite to judge them on eggs when we all expect 'special offers' from them.0 -

I think that's besides the point.i personally buy veg and milk when i see them on offer so i can't then criticise them for doing the same with free range eggs. this is afterall a moneysaving forum where people come here looking for ways to save money, maybe its a new brand onto the egg market and thats their intoductory offer...... either way it would make my a hypocrite to judge them on eggs when we all expect 'special offers' from them.
No you're right, I do too though mostly with fruit and veg, though it doesn't mean you shouldn't question it. It doesn't appear right somehow. I agree about your point about this being a money saving forum though I doubt the offer is a new brand on the egg market as it's most likely a loss leader.
You're right also to point out the fact about the hypocrisy, though even I have reservations when making purchases, price does appear before ethics when making a purchase on most things unfortunately.0 -

I do not use Tesco, so no tub to thump, but the point is with eggs chickens do not stop laying, so if there is a glut then the farmer either cuts the price or chucks them away, there is no other option really
It may well be Tesco has got a bargain lot, or maybe they beat the farmers with rubber hoses first
Either way "I'm out" as there no T around hereWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0 -
