How much did Sudan 1 cost you?

rammell wrote:Whilst the last post was intended as a joke (I presume ;-) ), isn't it sad that it is actually true. The fact is that the risk posed by Sudan 1 is considered to be extremely small.... in fact, almost zero. Yet look at the response it has got.
Compare that with the fact that millions of people are injesting known lethal carcinogens in the form of tobacco products 365 days of the year, year in and year out, all with the approval of the same government that banned Sudan 1.
I agree with the above. There is a risk that Sudan 1 is carcinogenic, and there may be a very minute amount in the sauce. But when the sauce is added to other products, the concentration must be insignificant.
There are, however a large number of naturally occurring toxins that are present in many foods and much less is done about them.
We all pay council tax, and hate it, but how much of that per head of population per year is spent on food surveying and analysis? How much of your taxes do you think goes to monitor the food we all eat?
Any views appreciated0 -
I too paniced and threw out two new bottles of Lea & Perrin sauce based on imformation given out to the public. Now, its apperently Ok. What a waste.0

I find it incrediable that on the famous 'moneysavingexpert' site, where we all discuss how to save money, or make it go further, or get around not having any, or how to get out of the red etc, etc, only 3.7 in the poll TOOK THE PRODUCT BACK FOR A REFUND.
I thought it was obvious. Or am I being too optimistic in expecting a refund and getting it?
JaySThe only stupid question, is an unasked question ...0 -
How much did Sudan 1 cost you? The recent food scare has rumbled on and on. However, as well as the health risks, we've had to throw away the stuff in our cupboards. What was the value of your household's stock of Sudan 1 food?
