Where to take the dog for a swim/free run around East London/Essex?

Anyone knows about a place where I could take Zara at the weekend for a free run/swim in reasonably CLEAN water somewhere within an hour (max) by car from East London?
I got great places to walk around here but for variety would be nice to take her somewhere else....
I was looking at Southend but no dogs on beaches of course so....
Any suggestions?
Got a friend with a car offering to take us somewhere this weekend but need to find a place.....to go to - where dogs are allowed...
Thanks

Ooooh! Website!

Everything taken out as it wasn't much use after all, as it appeared to be out of date
Or Brighton. That's all dog friendly from 1st October, but the beach does shelve quite quickly, so Zara needs to be good on recall from the water.
ETA: It's October by Saturday, so a lot of places won't have dog bans anymore by then. including Southend, going by their website.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Mersea Island has dog friendly beach and excellent fish and chips0

Um have you not been to Epping forest, the leytonstone end ( wanstead flats)
our dog loves a paddle in the lakes there...
Otherwise it would be the sea for me but nowhere is max 1 hour... I dont think anyhow. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Connaught Waters at Chingford, it's cleaner there than Whipps X, or up to Broxbourne along the river Lea, that's clean.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
