An aquintance at work cant open ANY bank account.
Not the current accounts or any BASIC accounts without overdrafts etc.
what do i suggest she does.
she applies for banks and then they write back saying they hold information against her and she cant open one for her (but they cant tell her that information!!!)

Is she able to open / does she have a simple savings account? If even this is not accepted, it suggests the reasons may be to do with links to suspected fraud or inappropriate financial activity linked to the name, rather than just a poor credit score.
Incorrect information can get into the system so it is worth her while getting to the bottom of why she is being refused. Has she previously had such accounts?
If no banks will touch her, a local credit union may be a place to start.0 -
I would suspect she has a CIFAS warning on her credit file.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I would think so too, that would be the only reason a bank would refuse a basic account0 -

Yep, CIFAS.
The banks will have told her to check her credit file. Therefore, she should do this. if she orders her Experian file by post, they enclose a leaflet explaining how to read the file. She really needs to sit down, open minded, having faith in herself that she can understand it, and read the guide from cover to cover several times then reading over her credit file.
It will then become clear what point(s) are holding her back.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
