Banking complaints story

This is on the BBC website today http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-15077344.
When Martin next appears on the BBC perhaps he could suggest that rather than lazily regurgitating a press release they could do a bit of analysis first. The raw numbers of complaints are meaningless without knowing how many customers each organisation has - 100,000 complaints for a bank with 1 million customers is a lot worse performance than 200,000 for one with 5 million customers, yet we have no idea from this story what the figures actually mean.
I'm also not sure how they've got the information anyway, they say it's from the FSA but I can't find anything on the FSA website about it; is it a leak, or are the FSA just being equally lazy and not bothering to keep their website up to date?

Agreed that the BBC page has a link to the FSA but it's to the home page and it's not obvious where the source of the information is. Anyway, I'm glad to see MSE has done a better job of reporting it.0 -
In recent times the majority of the MSE news stories seem to be just that, regurgitated press releases with little or no analysis. The biggest news in this story seems to be further down the page away from the headlineHowever, the number of banking complaints was at its lowest level since the first half of 2008, at 812,197. This is 10% down on the previous half year and 22% down on a year ago.0

"Bank complaints drop 22%" is a poor headline though.
It's good news. And nobody cares about good news.
"Evil Barclays Crap Service As Bankers Earn Massive Bonuses" would be a far better headline!!0
