Sainsbury's and voucher fraud

Seems that Sainsbury's are getting a bit upset about voucher fraud:

Personally I find Sainsbury's to be a tad hypocritical wagging the 'fraud' finger about here. One of our local stores was embroiled in a mini-scandal a while ago when staff were sent by bus to a different store for training on new equipment. The other store was some 20 miles away and staff were instructed to go by bus using a Stagecoach 'megarider' ticket. This ticket was, it is alleged, shared between different staff members over the course of a week to save the cost of them all buying their own tickets - apparently, on the instructions of the manager.
In my opinion, and I've not seen the conditions of carriage for Stagecoach so I can't say for sure, but I'd hazard a guess that this would be fraudulent use of the ticket :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Two wrongs don't make a right as they say - I'm pretty sure that the alleged actions of one store's staff don't justify voucher fraud by customers, particularly in a different chain. I'm pretty sure that no amount of mega-rider abuse (if indeed it did actually happen) would total the values discussed in the articles you linked to.0

The actions of a greedy few spoiling it for the many IMHO?0

It says the same voucher is being duplicated and used more than once, surely a simple solution to this would be to give the coupon and ID number and check it's validity during checkout................0

More on this pursuit of voucher fraud
http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/news/article-2042303/Supermarkets-crack-voucher-fraud.html
‘If a retailer has accepted a coupon in payment for goods, there is a valid contract made,’ she said. However if the retailer later realises that a consumer has not followed the terms and conditions, and therefore obtained the goods in breach of the terms, the retailer could potentially claim damages from the consumer for any losses incurred.
‘If the consumer has deliberately ignored the terms and conditions
or misused a voucher in order to obtain goods, or cause loss to the retailer, then the consumer could potentially be defrauding the retailer, and could be prosecuted for fraud,’ said Rook.
"In one case, a multi-national firm was cheated out of £80,000 when a £2 food-product voucher emailed to a mailing list was redeemed 50,000 times - despite only 8,000 being printed off.
More than 90% were redeemed through one supermarket chain, with 10,000 claimed through one of its stores.
In a second case, a start-up company in the food and drink sector was hit with a bill in excess of £40,000 after a money-off coupon was massively over-redeemed."

Its about time, this was bound to happen at some point, it would be better if when a voucher was used a supervisor checks it and deposits it in the little slot for vouchers0
