AOLbroadband + phone deal.

I have been offered a deal my my current provider AOL. Unlimited Broadband up to 24meg, line rental and anytime calls £29.33 per month, first month free, what do you think ?

Comments

  • I think it's expensive. I have unlimited broadband and anytime calls with AOL for £7.20 per month. They say their line rental costs £13.20 per month.
  • Hi Johanna, on Aol's website Broadband is £7.10 per month limited to 10g and line rental is £13.20 with evening & weekend calls. The deal I was offered isn't on the website and there is no contract, so if I'm not happy I can go elsewhere.

I also doubt you'll get anything nrar 24Mb, even if you lived beside the exchange. Contention from other customers on the same circuit (up to 20) also eat into this virtual promised bandwidth.
  • I did say up to 24 meg, I am on 8 at the moment. What about the deal though ?

I think that question was answered in post #2
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Can you come up with a better alternative.
  • There are cheaper options if you shop around, for example Orange and Tesco cost less. AOL's sales team says all their contracts are minimum of 18 months, so I would double check the 'no contract' that they promised you.

Hi Johanna, you were right. Got email today confirming the deal I discussed and it's on an 18 month contract !! Not happy at all with sales staff lying to get a sale. Have taken it up with AOL.

I have contacted AOL and they say I am not on a contract.
