Car warranty & service schedule

Options
My Hyundai Coupe will be 2 years old on the 1st March, and is ready to be booked in for a service. Hyundai's come with a 5 year warranty except for the clutch and a few other bits and bobs, which is 2 years.
I've got a niggle with the clutch, which needs looking at.

Due to work commitments, I can only book the car in for a service on the 2nd March, one day past it's 2 year birthday.
What I want to know is will the clutch still be covered under the 2 year warranty if it turns out to be a fault, as a new clutch is nearly £1000!!!!!

Tell the garage what the state of play is and say you want it done under warranty. If they say no, all you can really do is change the date - especially if a new clutch is £1000 !
  • If you inform them of the facts now, they should sort it out for you under warranty.

Can you really not arrange for them to look at it sooner, the problem may get worse. Many garages will collect your car from work or home or give you a courtesy car. Some garages also do servicing work and repairs on saturday too.

Get to your garage and speak to them pronto, personally i would have it booked in and a rental arranged if necessary.

What is wrong with the clutch?
  • Cheers folks....
I might play safe and book it in a week earlier.

The clutch is making a sort of 'pinging' noise when I pull away in first about half of the time or if I'm accelerating hard in 2nd or very occasionally in 3rd. It seems to be worse when the engine is cold.
I've done the usual tests for a worn clutch (it stalls with the hand brake on and it doesn't slip when I accelerate hard) so I'm lost.

Clutches, along with brake pads and tyres, aren't generally covered by warranty as they're considered 'consumerable' items that can be adversely affected by misuse.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.
