Locks up left click for ages

Options
Hi I'd appreciate any help on this. After a minute or two's use, suddenly Windows does not respond to a left mouse click (or a single tap on the trackpad) or 'enter'

right click still works, the windows button and cursor keys still work, 'cntrl+tab' still works, Alt+F4 still works but the left cick won't do anything. Unless you leave it for about 20 minutes and then all of a sudden everything is fine again. It's like there is some background process hogging all the resources and disabling the left-click activity until it's good and ready to accept some more left clicks. Except that task manager doesn't show any untoward usage of system resources and doesn't show any applications as not responding.

If you restart the machine, it doesn't prompt you to quit any processes and when it starts again, it is already in the problem-state and it remains that way until it feels like accepting left clicks again (usually about 10 minutes later). Same thing when restarting into safe mode and/or removing all power sources for 10 minutes.

-I have run Malware Bytes from safe mode which didn't show anything (log below. Yes, I know I've got MSIE6, but I don't use it).
-nothing untoward in Adaware, cccleaner or spybot
-I have removed and reinstalled the touch pad drivers
-I have restored the system back to a point 4 days previous to the probelm starting.
-Turned off all startup items
-I have removed and reinstalled my default virus sw Avira (which did get corrupted somewhere along the line (module Recore.dll could be loaded)).

The initial occurance was when doing a fairly simple copy-paste operation in MS word.

I suspect I'm gonna have to reinstall windows, but I'd really rather not. Any ideas ??

    nothing obvious standing out

it might run better without adaware and using avast free instead of avira. also try running startuplite.

are you using the telstra turbo software?

did anything change without the battery in?

if not try killing the MagicKBD.exe process

has it had mcafee on at some point?

must've had mcrapafee previously, that link is to the login page on their website. Try running the removal tool:-

    Thanks for input.

I think the macfee came pre-installed. I remember unstalling it via add/remove programs and running the MCPR deleter exe ages ago. I have just re-run the MCPR and it's still there in the hijack this report. I guess I must have had to activate/register it before I could remove it or something. No idea what the id/pw was !

Telstra turbo - yes I use it to drive an unlocked 3G dongle so I can connect with foreign SIM cards abroad (where I am). Have been using it for a year with no problems.

Removing the battery didn't improve things.

I don't usually have adaware running unless I've just done a scan. Turned it off now.

I turned those start-up items that came with the computer back on. Sorry, I forgot about that. *Everything's* turned off now (including the MagicKBD.exe).

As avira is a fresh install, I think I'll stick with that for now. startuplite reports 'no unnecessary start up items'

Here's another Hijack this log. Any ideas welcome !
