On street parking notice (Council) Double yellow lines

Can anyone give any advice regarding breaks in double yellow lines, for road gratings, for example. I think The highway code refers to a double yellow line, as continious yellow lines.

If I parked on double yellow lines as before could the Council penalty charge be sucessfully appealed on the grounds that the lines were not continious, because of the grating/gully at the side of the road.

Ive heard that if the lines are in poor condition and have breaks that
they can sucessfully appealed.

Nearly every Double yellow lines i've seen seem to be broken to allow for a road grating.

Obviously all tickets are appealable, but I was just wondering if anybody knows the right steer on this one.

Ta.

Avoid appealing just on the state of DYL with gaps in. Adjudicators often throw that out on the basis that any gap is 'de minimis' (of minimal importance). They may say the the lines were clear and substantially compliant.

Your best bet is to post a picture of the PCN on pepipoo. Also why were you parked there, if you were loading/unloading, or collecting/delivering, or picking up or dropping off a passenger they are all appeal points as long as there were no loading restrictions there as well.

Show pepipoo the PCN, both sides, all the blurb but not your car reg nor PCN number. And show them where you were parked, tell them why/how long.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
