fleeces & tog ratings

Help please! I am about to make a sleep "grow bag" for a baby. Nowadays, "tog" ratings are vital to prevent over-heating; however, fleece is sold by weight (grams per square metre). My usual source cannot quote me a tog rating - I have emailed another, but they haven't replied.
I cannot believe that we can't work this out, to make a suit at a fraction of the price!
Can anyone help?
I hope you don't mind, but I am going to cross-post this on "old-style" as some sewers who may know are to be found there.

Well Gypsy, it made me laugh, which I needed!
I think that this is all a conspiracy. If I buy an expensive bag, I am certain of the tog rating, so in the sad event of a sudden infant death, cannot be blamed by anyone (including myself).
However, I am on a mission to use commonsense!
