Hi
do you happen to know if BT charges you for ringing a number that then doesnt connect (i.e it rings out, or they cut you off/hang up, or it goes to a dead tone after several rings etc )?
Also, if your in a contract for say 18 months and you want to cancel, then how will will they charge you?
Thanks

Your not normally charged for unconnected calls.
Details of there early termination of contract charges are here: http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/dynamicmodules/pagecontentfooter/pageContentFooterPopup.jsp?pagecontentfooter_popupid=26746&s_cid=con_FURL_termcharges0 -
Some sneaky companies, especially if it is a premium number, answer the phone immediately, before you even get a ring tone, then play an engaged tone.
This way they are ripping you off without you knowing it.
Ticket selling companies and some competition lines do this.
How else can they make a profit and give out a prize of £1000 to the 1000th caller.0 -
BT themselves will not. However, if the call is not wholly handled within BTs network, a different telco may erroneously or maliciously send the answer/charge signal and the cost gets billed as normal.0
