Bought the laptop which arrived today, it's otherwise quiet except for a distinct clicking noise that seems to be coming from the bottom left of the laptop.
The clicking noise occurs every few seconds and is very annoying! Have browsed the internet and guessing it's possibly the hard drive. If so, would the clicking noise indicate the hard drive is defective?
If it's any difference, it says the HDD is 320G 5400R SATA
if the clicking noise is considered normal for laptops it's really annoying me as I try to do some work!
Thanks in advance.

Shouldnt make any clicking noise at all. Was it new? I would return to shop if possible and check it out0

Clicking is usually an indication of a failing hard drive. Do an internet search for 'The click of death'.
I would get it exchanged asap.0 -
Yes it's new
Bought it online though.
Thanks for the responses, I will contact the retailer.
I'm not particularly techie, but I'm looking at my old Toshiba laptop and noticing the hard drive led light (I think) at the front of the laptop doesn't blink constantly, whereas on this new Asus laptop, the (what I presume to be) hard drive activity light is continuously blinking even when the laptop is not being used.
Think this laptop is meant to have bluetooth but I can't seem to find any instructions/options to enable it. Annoyed.0 -
If you post the make and model, someone can look for the bluetooth switch
Mine is on the front panel below the keyboard, with the volume control and the card reader
Whatever the noise is, it shouldn't be making it so make sure they change it for you0
